HPE / Fortify
Overview
Fortify was a software suite that was made up of a various products gained through acquisitions by Hewlett Packard Enterprise. These products were focused on security code scanning, the primary ones being Fortify SSC (Static) and WebInspect (Dynamic) along with a full service offering known as Fortify on Demand.
I joined Fortify as their first designer across all the software products and set to work figuring out how to have the most UX impact and lay the groundwork for a larger UX team. Initially I was working directly within the development teams creating wireframes for various projects, but soon made the case to be moved to the product team. On the product team, I was able to work directly with the product managers and to help drive a more consistent and cohesive experience for the customers across the entire product suite. Aside from design, I began traveling to meet with key customers to talk with them directly about their experiences using the software and develop communication channels to allow me to gain insights on proposed product enhancements and customer feedback on existing UX.
